“Though MoCA (Museum of Contemporary Art in N. Miami) and MAM (Miami Art Museum) are now doing interesting and relevant shows, I think MoCA, under Bonnie Clearwater’s direction, has become a world class and increasingly important facility in the world of art. Ms. Clearwater just has great eyes and a great mind.”  (web review below)

peggy Peggy Hering

“My favorite place for inspiration and motivation is where artists keep their studios but are open to the public. The Bakerhouse Art Complex in the Miami Design District where one will find up-and-coming as well as established painters and sculptors. And on Lincoln Road Miami Beach with working studios and galleries along an outdoor walking mall that is in itself a feast for the creative mind.”

ct G.L. Handon

“I have not thoroughly explored too many of the exhibition spaces. I’ve noticed that the Norton Museum of Art is committed to the works of living and innovative artists. I find the energy surrounding Clematis Street on Thursday evenings most inspirational.”

Some may categorize Onajidé's art as "conceptual," though it's much more complex than a single word can describe. Besides combining diverse media such as photography, drawing, painting and installation, a form of sculpture, he further blurs the lines of genre art with the use of the written word and non-traditional elements, such as rocks, bones and feathers. His work is intense, and carries an ethereal, religious quality derived from the spiritualism infused in his African and Native American heritage.

Not only is this site "conceptual," it is a mind-blowing collection of breath-taking art in many different forms. Visit the site and have your soul touched.

Right on about Onajide's work. He is a very talented artist who follows his own vision.

Really original, yet richly connected to significant traditions and media...well worth your time to take it in.
